What’s your favourite part about studying at OCAD?

Gabriella Rook: My favourite part about studying at OCAD so far is the structure of the course. It gives me the flexibility to learn how and when I want to, without the worry of having to stress about exams. There's a lot of creative freedom, which suits how I'd like to study, and I also like how you start off by doing research. And then you put what you've learned into practise in the work that you then produce. I feel this gives me the right groundings to truly understand the subjects I'm looking at, and it gives me the best opportunity to develop my skills and discover my unique style.

What would you tell other students considering studying at OCAD?

Gabriella Rook: the first thing I would tell students considering studying at OCAD would be that they are amazing to study with the tutor. Feedback and support is great, and it enhances your creativity as well as your creative thinking. I would also tell potential students that if a conventional exam pathway to university isn't for you, the accredited qualifications OCAD offers are a brilliant alternative as you'll still end up at the same destination.

What makes OCAD unique and how has it helped you?

Gabriella Rook: because a OCAD is open to everyone and you don't need a long list of qualifications to study with them. This is one of the things which makes them unique for me. Because I was home educated, it was impossible to sit creative qualifications. Studying at OCAD has helped my creativity blossom and it has changed the way I look at the world around me. The fact that I can study what I love as well as get UCAS points at the end of it is what I feel makes OCAD so special.
