What do you like most about Cambridge Home School Online?

Stacey Guney: What do we like most about Cambridge Home School online. My daughter had been at another school and she has her whole life, been interested in science and the sciences. And the, the way that they'd been teaching was totally disengaging her. And I was really fearful that she would not be able to continue in the path that really, she knew she felt called to, uh particularly in chemistry. And when we made the switch within the first semester, she was back to her, you know, passion for chemistry and science and uh with this individualized care and the talking about how wonderful her teachers were and how they were bringing the subjects alive and how that was watching that spark inside of her light up and um continuing to succeed. And, uh I think the results have been transformative, you know, to have, uh to see her again feeling successful in her school work because she's in these small classes with very, very, very good teachers who really take an interest and really see each student where they're at and are really inspiring them in, in the areas that they have a true affinity or passion for. And I mean, that's what you want from any school. But um, if you're, if you're feeling as if virtual is not, or home school online is, is maybe not for you because you'll be missing out on that. I would say she's more engaged now in her education than she ever was in the traditional face to face format and, and her results are showing it, uh the mock exams for G CS E S just happened and she was like, I got a, a star in physics. And um and so we're really excited about being able to have her in a place where she feels so at home and so supported and so inspired by the faculty members that she has.

Why did you decide to educate your child online and why did you choose Cambridge Home School Online?

Stacey Guney: No. Uh I think the traditional school uh was actually just too traditional. It was very formal, there wasn't a lot of interaction. Um And uh the class sizes were kind of large and I think the faculty just really wasn't very invested, they were showing up, but they weren't actually showing up for the students. And so that's the first thing that's different. You know, the the faculty members really are there showing up even though it's virtual in a way that even the traditional fact teachers weren't. So, um we chose it because the traditional school just wasn't engaging. Um our, our daughter, the way that we felt would, would help her to be successful. And that changed from almost the first week when she started at Cambridge.

Has learning at Cambridge Home School Online changed your child? If so how?

Stacey Guney: Yes. Uh, my daughter had been really disengaged, um, in chemistry, which is something that she loved and like the first week of class she wanted to come home and start telling me, uh, about what she was learning and came home, she was already at home. What I mean, came out of class, came away from her desk and wanted to tell me that how much she was enjoying chemistry and explaining it to me. And, um, that, that was wonderful since, uh, you know, she wasn't feeling like she was engaged or being successful. You know, she was getting ok grades, she was getting good grades, but she wasn't really feeling like she was learning anything. And I think that's the difference. Now. She feels like she, her, her workload is manageable. She has good communication. She's very organized, it's all very clear. Um, the recordings can, you know, um, it also, the recordings are always there. Um, so frankly, she's very independent. It's really supported that and she, we don't really interact or help support her in any way because she's figuring it out for herself. And so, you know, this idea that she's now successful and she's independently managing her time and her, her energy and getting her work done and learning. So that has been uh a wonderful transformation to see somebody go from just kind of uh school to, you know, hey, I'm really excited about this. Um you know, she really wants to go be a doctor and that's a lot of years of school. And if you're not happy in school right now, you probably are not gonna be signing up to do all that extra school. So I think it's remotivated her, uh to pursue her dream.

As you have been at the school for a while now what advice would you like to give to parents about attending Cambridge Home School Online?

Stacey Guney: This, I, I'm always hesitant to give advice to any parents because um every child is different. So, you know, you have to, you know, your child, your child knows themselves and what their needs are. So I think if um you, you, you had that feeling that your Children are not doing well, wherever they're at, that you should consider something different. And, you know, I think, talk to the head master. Um it was wonderful speaking uh with, with the, with the people there, you know, see if you can attend one of the classes so that people can get comfortable with the experience and then, um you know, let, let them do their jobs. I think, you know, they do such a great job. I don't uh especially as they get older, you know, that, that it's, it's uh it's easy for them to learn how to manage their time and um figure it out. And really, that's probably the best part is they're actually learning how to learn and not just learning to do things by rote. Um They're, they're learning how to engage with the material and not just, you know, regurgitate it uh for a big exam. So I think that that's probably the best. Um, I don't know if it's advice but just a tip maybe.

Finally, would you recommend Cambridge Home School Online and if so why?

Stacey Guney: We are a very multicultural family. Um We've had lots of international moves and um besides being a very high quality education that is um got small class sizes, excellent teachers. Um I think one of the reasons that people might be interested is that it does give families like us a lot of flexibility, you know, um the the ability to um I'm, we live in Luxembourg, but we also, I'm, I'm American. Um So, you know, sometimes to go to the States where my daughter's older um brothers live and, and do those things and yet still keep up with the school work and do those things. That's a level of flexibility that um we really appreciate. And I think if other families are in similar situations, whether it's because there's their Children have, you know, other extracurricular activities or their family is, is in different places and in different time zones, it's really nice just to be able to have that flexibility and, and still feel like you're not taking your kids out of school. Um And so, you know, being able to have a good quality education that can work around what the needs of kind of modern life are, is a wonderful experience to be able to give your kids.
