What do you like most about Cambridge Home School Online?
Sean Burnham: I think uh first and foremost, it's the kind caring, nurturing ethos of the school that's backed up by the quality of education delivered by really amazing teachers who are invested in the development and of your child and both academically and as a person, the small interactive classes, which mean our child is engaged in every lesson. This was actually one of our concerns before schooling online, but our child is significantly more engaged than they ever have been at a physical school. And then lastly, I think it's the flexibility the school offers in creating a tailored and balanced curriculum for our child.
Why did you decide to educate your child online and why did you choose Cambridge Home School Online?
Sean Burnham: We finally decided to home educate because our child has a low immune system and we just needed to be really careful from the start of the pandemic. I say finally, because we'd actually been discussing home education for a number of years but never quite took the plunge. And I think the pandemic gave us that opportunity. From the moment Bow joined CHS, we realized it was exactly what we've been looking for and talking about for all those years, he loved it immediately and began to really start getting excited about school work. Bow has always done well at school, attained good grades, but the environment really opened up new opportunities and Bow's thrived over the last three years. We love the idea of individual learning and being able to create a timetable that works for our child's needs and interests, but also within a structure that's beneficial for Children as they grow. CHS online takes the best aspects of traditional schooling and adds benefits that those schools can't offer. I think from the first day, we contacted CHS, the school has been inviting friendly and it's just worked. So hard to make sure that we're all happy.
Has learning at Cambridge Home School Online changed your child? If so how?
Sean Burnham: Hugely. Bow has been allowed to grow and become an amazing individual. The school encourages the kids to be autonomous learners and take responsibility for their day to day life. This has resulted in a real growth in self confidence, Bow has thrived academically resulting now being two years ahead of peers and friends at their old school and has already started work towards GSES and will still be 12 when sitting in the first two. So academically, Bow is doing amazingly. but this, I guess it's not just about academics. I think Bow has become a huge part of the school community getting involved in school, social life competitions, a lot of extracurricular activities. And really, we've been delighted to see that the the confidence has grown so much so that Bow is now hosting clubs and heading a lot of the school initiatives. you know, not only is that building confidence but also social leadership, organizational skills being learned from a very young age. Prior to CHS Bow was a great student and very, you know, very good at doing things when told. But now we see Bow being in control always wanting to go above and beyond raising their hands to do more, give suggestions and ideas. And I think importantly, our child has been allowed to grow in their own image, not bound by traditional schools need to conform. And I think CHS has enabled both to be the incredible individual that they are and that we always knew was there but was maybe being stifled by their traditional school.
As you have been at the school for a while now what advice would you like to give to parents about attending Cambridge Home School Online?
Sean Burnham: Do it join, I think, jump in with both feet, encourage your child to grab it with both hands and you'll see the incredible results in every area of your child's life and education. I think, as I've mentioned, you know, before CHS online we were apprehensive around online schooling, but we haven't looked back since day one, I think. you know, another thing is the amazing international students. I mean, our Children get an education like no other. the fact that it's online means that we have access to the best teachers from far and wide. They're not bound by location, making the school very unique and a very special place to be.
Finally, would you recommend Cambridge Home School Online and if so why?
Sean Burnham: We can't recommend it enough. In fact, we do, we recommend it to anyone that will listen. CHS online is a very special school and is nurturing really incredible students and individuals. Our child absolutely loves the school and feels so supportted and is thriving and really excited for what the future holds. We have a lot to thank Doctor Page, the incredible Mr Boylan and all of the amazing teachers and faculty at CHS for what they are providing our child.
