Debra: Hi, my name is Deborah. Doctor Allaei did a fibroid embolization procedure on me. last January. It's now July. My grapefruit sized, very rare, fatty fibroid is now half the size and I only wish I would have done it a lot sooner.
Why did you decide to have this treatment?
Debra: I'd lived with this fibroid tumor for many years. in discomfort, varying degrees of discomfort. I'm very active. I ride horses. I row, I run and it was just getting more and more uncomfortable. A lot of lower back pain. And, I didn't think this procedure would work for it. It was so large but it certainly did.
In what ways did the treatment help and would you recommend this to others? Why?
Debra: I'm just so much more comfortable now. All of my sport activities from, you know, rowing, horseback riding, pickle ball, on and on. I can do a lot better. A lot more comfortably. My lower back pain is gone. I'm looking a lot better in my clothes. It's just been great.
Would you recommend Dr Allaei and his staff to a friend or loved one, and why?
Debra: I would absolutely recommend Doctor Allaei I was a journalist in a former life and I did a lot of research. He's the guy. He's just just amazing. He's a rock star. His staff are wonderful too. And, yeah, he's the doctor. You want to do this. Absolutely.
Describe your recovery and downtime.
Debra: The only downtime I had was maybe three or four days. I had no pain, really. I don't know if it was pain meds or, or what. But, I didn't really have much of an appetite and I was very tired. I took naps during the day, which I never do. But other than that it was, gosh, by, I'd say five or six days afterward I was pretty much myself and back to normal activity.
What do you wish you had known before the procedure?
Debra: What I wish I'd known before the procedure is, how effective it is. This is not an unproven thing. It's kind of a common sense sort of a procedure. It's very noninvasive. No pain, fast, easy. I wish I would have known that and I wish I would have done it sooner. It was really easy and for the results I got, I mean, amazing.
