Speaker: Maribel Galvan, Prevention Services Facilitator, Kern County Network for Children
Please introduce yourself and tell us about your current role.
Maribel Galvan: Hi, my name is Maribel Galvan. I am a Prevention Services Facilitator for Kern County Network for Children.
How are you using what you’ve learned in your everyday work with families and/or within your organization?
Maribel Galvan: What I have learned through the trainings, the CalTrin trainings, I am using in everyday work when I communicate with some of the parent educators or the case managers that work for the Case Management Programs that we oversee.
Please tell us about any specific success, improvement, or change your participation in CalTrin training helped you achieve and how.
Maribel Galvan: A specific success or improvement in the training that's received through CalTrin, is that we're able to share with case managers that are boots on the ground, sharing with them handouts, sharing with them. Even with problem-solving, when talking to them about problem-solving, we're able to use what we've learned from these (CalTrin) trainings into practice.
Have you encouraged colleagues from your organization or other family-serving professionals to participate in CalTrin training? If yes, why?
Maribel Galvan: Yes, absolutely. I have encouraged colleagues from the organization to participate in some of the CalTrin trainings. Absolutely because it is such a wealth of information and learning and it ties in with the work that they do on a daily basis.
Is there anything else you would like to share with us?
Maribel Galvan: I would like to take the time to give a big thank you for all of the trainings, all of the hard work that is brought together to be able to spread these learning experiences throughout California. You know, I've heard in some of the trainings that I've been where, you know, people just come together and learn and, you know, it gives us an opportunity to be able to bring this to our profession in helping people. And it's such a great training. I look forward to it. I make every effort to be able to attend these trainings. I don't want to miss them and I absolutely love the opportunity that if I do happen to miss it, that I'm able to go back and look at the material and also go through the training on, on a time that I'm able to. So I really appreciate everything that goes behind the scenes with CalTrin, I appreciate every single training that I've gone through. And it's been, I want to say if I could count, it would be about 20. So thank you so much. I appreciate you all.
