What was the problem you were experiencing when you came to us?

Jennifer DesLauriers: Before I came to breakthrough, the issues I was experienced was that pretty much all my life, I had been morbidly obese as far back as I can remember. And when I came to breakthrough, I had just been through weight loss surgery about five months prior. And while I had lost a good bit of weight, I also lost a good bit of muscle as well. And just from being obese, um m most of my life, I had very limited mobility. I had os osteoarthritis. Um I really, I, there was no way in the world I could get on the floor or get off with help. So if I fell, I would be in a, in a deep trouble. Um Also just my joints hurt and I couldn't keep up with my family. If we ever had outings that were outside, I would always try to opt out because I didn't feel like walking. I would get tired easily. And so I saw a friend of mine who had gone, who was a member of breakthrough and I saw just happened to see a video just like this and I was super excited when I saw her testimonial. So I knew I had to make that call to Chris Gray and talk about what breakthrough had to offer.

What have you tried in the past to solve it? Why didn’t that work?

Jennifer DesLauriers: Before coming to breakthrough. I tried pretty much everything you could possibly think of to lose weight on my own. I tried Dexatrim. I tried Weight Watchers. I went to a doctor that gave me some kind of shots. I don't even know what the shots were, but I got what I assume was like speed tablets and you were on a very low. Uh, I don't know, 1200 calorie a day diet. I went to Weight Watchers. I had a membership to a local chain gym which I paid for for many years. I paid the monthly fee. I paid the annual fee, but I never went when I did go the couple of times that I went, you know, it's just like you're just going there and you're going through the motions and I had no one to keep me accountable. I had no one to help me to let me know if I was doing anything right. I had no one to check on me if I didn't show up and say, hey, Jennifer, where are you at? You know, we miss you, we missed you this morning at the workout. Um, at Breakthrough, you have all of that. You have a coach or many coaches, actually wonderful coaches. You have a dietician, you have a, um, you have accountability, you have the community that actually truly care about you and want you to do well. And then you also have mindset training. I guess we have a weekly call that we all get on and we work on our habits and our mindset that kind of, you know, all of the old stuff that comes up for you and causes you to want to eat and causes you to not succeed and causes you to feel bad about yourself. We have all of that at breakthrough.

What was your experience like?

Jennifer DesLauriers: So my experience at breakthrough has just been absolutely amazing. Um, the coaches, the nutritionist, the community, the warrior calls, which is a call that we have every Monday night that, um, just helps you. It's almost like a therapy session if you will, um, helps you with your mindset and you see that everybody else is going through the same things as you. If you've struggled, they've struggled to, no one is alone. So to me, the experience of breakthrough has just from day one has been amazing. We have, um, we have special exercise, um, groups like for holiday sessions. We have holiday parties. We have, um, we do a charity event, um, and Thanksgiving where we pack food boxes. I don't really know of any gyms that do that. Um, but my experience has been wonderful from day one. The first phone call I made to, um, coach Gray. And through today I have rarely missed, I go at 5 a.m. in the morning and I wouldn't have it any other way. I it's become a habit and it starts my day off. Well, and I just can't say enough good things at all. It's just, I love this place and I will come here and until I can't.

What would you say to anyone that might be on the fence about working with us?

Jennifer DesLauriers: If you're on the fence or you're just afraid that, oh my gosh, I can't do that. I can't exercise like that. I can't show up in front of people and exercise. Let me tell you, yes, you can at breakthrough. We have people from probably 20 years old to 7080 years old coming in there and they are amazing and everybody's at a different level. There's modifications. If you have a, oh, I have arthritis in my knee. Any kind of thing that you have, there's a modification for, you can do it. All it takes is just a call to, to coach Gray and just have a conversation with him. See what breakthrough has to offer and just try out a session on Saturdays. We have a bring a buddy day and you could come in there and just work out with us and just see how it is. Just try it out. Get hold of anybody. If you're friends with anybody that goes to breakthrough on Facebook, including myself, I'd be happy to have you come along with me on a Saturday and try it out. It'll be the best decision you ever made. And like I said you're never too old, you're never too out of shape. You'll be amazed at what you can do.
