How has BossmakeHer changed your life?
Susan Cellura: BossmakeHer has changed my life because before joining, I felt unsure in how to move my career forward. BossmakeHer gave me tools and confidence to take control and make things happen. The career coaching and supportive community helped me figure out my next steps and I really liked the personalized job search guidance which made everything so much easier. Thanks to BMH and their community, I found a job that I love and I feel empowered to keep making great career choices going forward.
What part of the BossmakeHer program made the biggest difference for you, and why?
Susan Cellura: For me, the biggest part of the program that made a difference was the personalized job search, learning how to use the tools given to me to open doors to conversations, whether they led to interviews or leads on jobs or just getting to know somebody else in the industry. So they think of me later was really key to expanding the search overall and expanding my network so that I could be in touch with people at any point in time in any industry in which I was looking for a move. Connections are key in any career and that was a big one that helped me find my job.
What three words best describe BossmakeHer, and why?
Susan Cellura: The three words I would use to describe BossmakeHer would be determination, motivation, and community. Determination because everyone who's a part of BossmakeHer is determined to help you find your best you, as well as your best next job and to help you move forward in your career. Motivation because if you're feeling down, they can pick you right back up. People have good days and bad days, but they'll keep you motivated and focused on your job search and next career move. Community - huge. Every woman who's a part of BossmakeHer has ups and downs, has mountains to climb, hurdles to jump, and the community will rally around each person to help them succeed. In addition, if you wanna work for a particular company, you just have to say, "Hey, do you have a contact at this company? I found a role I'm really interested in." So there's a lot of door opening. And there's a lot of laughter and there are some tears and there are just a sisterhood that you don't normally find in the workforce. So, that's how I would describe BossmakeHer
Based on your BMH experience, what advice would you give a friend who is navigating the job search process on her own?
Susan Cellura: If I had a friend who was navigating the job search process on their own or her own, I would definitely recommend BossmakeHer. The community support, the specialized coaching, the training, the ability to bounce ideas off of each other, the ability to really work and focus on exactly what you want to do next in your career. These specialized coaches and tools help you identify your next move and best fit faster than you trying to figure it out on your own. In addition, these tools open doors to new networks that you will take a lot longer to find if you're doing it on your own just via LinkedIn or job search. So definitely would recommend BMH.
