Speaker: Barbara Cameron

How has BossmakeHer changed your life?

Barbara Cameron: Hi there. My name is Barbara Cameron, and it was about a year ago that I was feeling very dejected. And fearful, I had been on a job hunt for almost a full year and I wasn't feeling great about my chances and anyways, I sort of stumbled upon BossmakeHer, and as soon as I heard about it and thought about it. And talked with some people, it seemed like the right step. It was a little bit scary. It seemed like a lot of money at the time, especially when I hadn't been working for a long time, and I had to really think about it, but I coached it as an investment into my future, and I can happily say now that it was probably one of the best investments I did make at the time. I wasn't working, so I was able to dive into the BossmakeHer program with a vengeance, and I made it my work.

Barbara Cameron: I started every day at 8 a.m. as if this was a job, and I just consumed all of the courses and the programs and the webinars and the fantastic coaching that's available.

Barbara Cameron: in it. I wasn't looking really for a great big leap. I kind of love what I do, so I was really kind of more interested in a lateral switch, which I actually thought I might have been a bit of an imposter in the BossmakeHer realm, but I was never made to feel that that wasn't right. It was what was good for me.

Barbara Cameron: I learned so much. I did land a great position. I'm so happy in my role, and I just remember, during the interview, how impressed the hiring manager was with how I presented myself, and I had learned all of that, through my time with BossmakeHer. The hiring manager said that it was one of the best introductions he'd ever heard.

Barbara Cameron: I really just want to say a huge thank you to all of the people involved with BossmakeHer. You provide an exceptional service, supportive service for women in in the throes of a really, really tough time of their lives. Job search is not a fun place to be, but I enjoyed my time with you and I wish you all the best.

What part of the BossmakeHer program made the biggest difference for you, and why?

Barbara Cameron: So what part of the BossmakeHer program made the biggest difference for me? It's actually really tough, to answer simply because it, in retrospect now, you know, I've been, I've been almost a year from when I began, it all seems to have just been one perfect program, but I will go back to, as I say, the position that I did receive after doing a really, really good interview. tells me that probably for me personally, the interviewing tips, all of the webinars and all of the coaching around interviewing tips was probably the biggest impact for me. I thought I did great in interviews. I always felt that I did. but I certainly learned a different way to present myself and be prepared and use the, you know, structured introduction, which was very important and the structured stories and I did so much more preparation after doing that, that when I had my interviews and I had several, I felt so much more confident. Some of them didn't work out and at the time, excuse me, I was definitely sad. However, as we were told, just stick with it and the right position will find you. So, as I say, everything worked seamlessly together, the interview tips, I suppose, knowing your MDP also, like the MDP is super, super important to really understand that so that you can present yourself in such a great way that I hadn't considered before, so thank you for that.

What three words best describe BossmakeHer, and why?

Barbara Cameron: If I were to describe BossmakeHer in three words, I would use Smart, Savvy, and Supportive. "Smart" because it's a really good program. It's what the market needs, and there's a lot of really smart people running the show and providing the coaching and the information. "Savvy", similar, there's a lot of savvy people that are willing to help you and "Supportive" because they really do support you, yeah, through the tears and through the joyful, tears. You always feel 100% supported with BossmakeHer.

Based on your BMH experience, what advice would you give a friend who is navigating the job search process on her own?

Barbara Cameron: I'm a very independent person, always have been. And so I was struggling through my job search alone, thinking, I can do this, I can do this. I just have to keep being resilient and patient, and I can do this, and I don't need to spend any money. I know how to do this. And so, it actually kind of makes me giggle right now because I certainly did need the investment. I did need the help. I did need to reach out and be taught some new things, be within a group of peers and be coached in the new reality of the job market and yeah, I would never, I would always tell a friend to do BossmakeHer. There's probably all sorts of other options. I know I had looked at a couple of other options first, but nothing really resonated me. The whole BossmakeHer program, because it's just so much more complete. It's not just a resume writing service or, interview tips. It's bigger than that, and it provides such a broad range of programs that help you in the entire process. So, I would highly recommend if you are job searching, just sign up with BossmakeHer. Don't do it by yourself. You will win. You will succeed with BossmakeHer.
