How has BossmakeHer changed your life?

Adara S.: Hi everyone. I am one of the many success stories of BossmakeHer. BossmakeHer really made my desires clear. That clarity exercise of needs and deal breakers was challenging for me, not so much because I didn't know what I wanted, but I needed to claim that, I needed to own it, that I do have needs and I do have deal breakers, and I don't need to set those aside and contort myself to fit a role that frankly is not best for me. It really gave me the tools needed to gain clarity on what it was that I wanted, not just from a career or a position, but out of my life and the type of balance that I want for my life. I didn't know that I was such a strong candidate in the sense that I guess I'd been so inundated in the career and doing the work that I never took the time to step back and say wow, I've achieved a lot and I'm capable of a lot and I've proven myself. So once I saw that on paper and I had that communicated to me it became very clear that the goals that I had in mind, really the dreams that I had in mind, could become goals, and they were achievable and attainable, and I was the right person for the things that I wanted. Now I am working from home mostly and I am in a much better role, a bigger role, higher pay, better title, all of those things, but most importantly, I am very assured in my competency. I'm confident in my competence if that makes sense. I don't feel like I'm an imposter because I know what I'm capable of and I, I know what I've done. I can communicate it effectively.

What part of the BossmakeHer program made the biggest difference for you, and why?

Adara S.: Probably the market dominating position. It's, it's really a tie between that and the clarity phase of the program. I think it's important to know what it is you want and I thought I did coming into the program and then I was, confronted with some of the questions and it brought up some things that I didn't realize were festering internally for me. And the market dominating position exercises really gave me the language necessary to communicate that to potential employers. I ended up being able to negotiate my pay at a significantly higher rate than my previous role and the current role where most people start, because I could speak to my experience with the current lingo and those current buzzwords that I didn't know before. So I would say clarity and the market dominating position work were probably the most influential and made the biggest difference in my experience with BossmakeHer.

What three words best describe BossmakeHer, and why?

Adara S.: Let's see, 3 words would be intentional, quality, elevation. The level of intentionality that was used to build out every phase, that was used to create the channels of communication and feedback along with the coaches and with other women in the program. Everything was done with meticulous care and applicability to the current market. Everyone is relatable and they genuinely care, and they all have that same level of intentionality and wanting to see you succeed based on your definition of success. And that kind of bleeds into the elevation part. I can honestly say I have elevated my life thanks to the tools and the support and the guidance that I got from this program. There is no other way I would have been able to do that. I wouldn't have known where to go. I wouldn't have known where to look. I wouldn't have known what I didn't know. And to have a place that I could plug in whenever I could, whenever I needed to. To be able to connect with other women, hear other women, and learn and grow and glean. It really advanced me, not just professionally, but personally, and I'm I'm just so grateful.

Based on your BMH experience, what advice would you give a friend who is navigating the job search process on her own?

Adara S.: What would I tell a friend who's navigating the job search process on her own? I'll tell her to pay for BossmakeHer and don't do this on your own.
