Speaker: Emer Herlihy, MB, Radiation Oncology Specialist Registrar, St. Luke's Radiation Oncology Network
Emer Herlihy, MB: Hi, my name is Emer Herlihy and I'm a first year radiation oncology trainee currently working in St. Luke's Radiation Oncology Network in St. James's Hospital in Dublin. I'll be doing a poster presentation on a study we conducted to assess the feasibility of sacro-iliac joint optimization in pelvic radiotherapy. In this study, we reviewed 20 patients undergoing pelvic radiotherapy for gynecological malignancies and 10 patients undergoing radical prostate cancer treatment. We counted the left and right SIJ as separate structures, and we created two radiotherapy plans for each patient. One plan which was as per current standard of care set out by our institution and based off national and international guidelines. And another plan which was optimized to avoid the SIJ. We analyze the D mean V40 and V30 Gy for each SIJ, as well as the dose to the organs at risk. in each plan. I will be presenting this Monday afternoon at 5 p.m. in Exhibit hall C. Thank you.
