Speakers: Dr. Keole Advocacy Day, Why Attend Advocacy Day 2026
Why attend the meeting?
Dr. Keole Advocacy Day: Hello, my name is Sameer Keole. I'm this year's ASTRO Board Chair, and I wanted to personally invite you to this year's ASTRO Advocacy Day, which will be held April 27th and 28th in Washington DC. There's still plenty of time to register, and we have rooms available in the room block. This is the most important Advocacy Day I can remember in the quarter century we've been doing these, and I've attended nearly all of them. We're under tremendous financial pressure from the recent cuts that we saw in the final rule and especially the enforcement of some of those new rules. This only underscores the need for long-term payment stability in our field, which can be attained through significant payment reform via the Radiation Oncology Case Rate legislation, better known as ROCR, that'll be our key talking point, but it's not our only talking point when we go to Washington DC this year. We'll also be talking about the burden of prior authorization on our members and more importantly, the patients that we take care of. We continue to advocate for fair funding from the NIH and NCI for radiation oncology and radiation medicine initiatives. There's a lot going on in our field. It's important that we advocate, for ourselves and most importantly our patients. I hope to see you all in Washington DC again this April 27th and 28th. Thank you.
