Speaker: Jennifer, Dallas Fort Worth 33 Years
Describe how 5 (five) years without a raise or improvements in our contract have affected you personally.
Jennifer: Hi, my name is Jennifer and I've been a flight attendant for American Airlines for 33 years and a good one. I do my job the way I was trained and I've been a pretty much by the book flight attendant doing all that. The company has asked of me being a more senior flight attendant. You'd think I have my ducks in a row and I'm all set for retirement. Sadly, that's not the case. Life happens as it does for everyone in my case. The last five years, I've been through a divorce colon cancer and losing my mother to dementia for which I tried to keep her at home with me as long as possible until my sick time was gone. And the hard 40 kicked in. I had to go back to work and I did and I've continued to work hard for this company every single trip. I don't even recognize this company anymore. I've never felt so disposable, unappreciated and reprimanded for such trivial things. I just got a call the other day for a one minute delay on a plane on a flight regardless of it. Arriving 21 minutes early. I have always lived within my means. I drive a Nissan I have a 1200 square foot condo and a dog who I see less and less of because I'm flying more to try and keep up with skyrocketing inflation and no raise. And I am now back to living paycheck to paycheck. I'm tired, I'm pissed and I deserve a good contract. One that reflects the kind of work I do for this company.
