Speaker: Bianca , Dallas Fort Worth 8 Months
Describe how 5 (five) years without a raise or improvements in our contract have affected you personally.
Bianca : Hello, my name is Bianca. I'm DFW based flight attendant.
Bianca : Um I started off as an agent and then I transferred to a flight attendant as a flight attendant. I am only a flight attendant for eight months now. So I have been with the company. I do know the struggle that we all are facing all of us which no matter what work group.
Bianca : Um I hear stories I see hardships and I have faced hardships since I've been a flight attendant with this company. My biggest fear is is that will we ever see our basic needs met? What I mean about our basic needs is will we ever have good work rules that accommodate us as flight attendants and will will we ever have accommodations to where we will not have to live in fear of where our next rent money is gonna come from. As a flight attendant, I'm learning every day that I fly from my coworkers and I'm amazingly um just appreciative of all the the knowledge that they share, you know, as me being a new flight attendant, um I am hopeful that, you know, our union can fight for us and provide us with, you know, a decent contract because at the end of the day, nobody wants to, you know, dedicate their time and their self to a company and not be able to meet their basic needs. So even though I haven't been with the company for five years, I have spoke with people that have been there for, you know, five years or more. And I do see their hardships, I do see their struggle and I also see their hard work and dedication, they deserve it as well as I deserve it. We all deserve to be able to work for a company that where we feel our voice is being heard as a first year flight attendant. I am thankful for my job. I am appreciative of my job, but I'm also hopeful that change is coming. We need a positive change. We need better work rules and we need better pay. We're not asking for a lot. We're just asking for our basic needs to be met. And I hope one day that we can look back and all come together and say that with our union, we did that. We accomplish basic needs, we accomplish better work rules. I hope to see that one day. Thank you for your time.
