Speaker: Maureen Hayes
What are redox molecules and why do you need them?
Maureen Hayes: Redox signaling molecules are necessary for life. They're in every single one of our trillions and trillions of cells in our body. And they're there to help with cellular communication and to help our cells to repair themselves or replace themselves. And to detect damage to the cells, they turn on and off different processes and they actually cause cascading effects throughout the body that lead to overall health and better resilience to stress. Without these molecules, we would be perished in perish in minutes if not sooner. We have them in every one of ourselves, but as we age and where bodies are under stress, they can become out of balance or we can develop deficiencies in them.
Can you explain the role of redox signaling molecules in cellular health and function?
Maureen Hayes: Redox molecules are very important for our overall health and cellular function. They actually have the jobs of detecting, protecting ourselves, repairing or replacing, taking away the damaged cells. I like to call it the secret language of our ourselves, the secret communication because the cells affect each other. They use this signaling. We're very familiar with things like hormones and neurotransmitters. This is another form of cellular communication. Now, these molecules are extremely small. They're tiny, they're high energy, they're absorbed directly into our cells where they turn things on. They kind of flip a switch and then they affect the cells that are next to them, which causes a domino effect or cascade effect that leads to overall improved resilience to stress, which is so important to the body and overall wellness because of that. So you have them in every one of your trillions of cells or you wouldn't be alive. But as we age, because they're made in our mitochondria that are affected by age and, and different stressors, we have fewer of them as we get older and they can become out of balance. So it's incredibly important to restore that balance or restore or replenish any deficits that we have in ourselves so that we have a fully functioning cell.
What is oxidative stress and how does it impact human health? How is it related to redox balance and how it helps oxidative stress.
Maureen Hayes: Oxidative stress is when you have an imbalance between reactive oxygen species and antioxidants, everything in the body wants to be in homeostasis. And when you go to one extreme or the other things can get really out of whack. And with oxidative stress, it really takes its toll on the body. It can cause sort of a resting or even a rotting if you will of the body. if you think about something that's left outside, that oxidizes like a, you know, if you have metal, it will rust that can happen inside your body too and it causes great damage to your cells and damage to your tissues. So what we like to do and there's functions for both of these that your body has. But, but they need to be in balance, they need to counteract each other and neutralize things. And so when you get those at a balance, that's when we start to see disease take form.
How do environmental factors such as pollution and UV radiation affect redox balance, and what can individuals do to protect themselves?
Maureen Hayes: I mentioned earlier that these redox signally molecules are made in the mitochondria of our cells. Those are the powerhouses of our cells and we lose mitochondria at the rate of 10% per decade after puberty. So by the time you get to be in your fifties, sixties, seventies, you've got many fewer mitochondria that are and the ones that you have are, are affected, they're not working at their, their peak efficiency or effectiveness. And this is because of different things in our environment. It's not just a matter of getting older, which does affect our mitochondria, but it also things like pollutants, the food that we eat, being genetically modified or tainted in some way or another. Also the air that we're breathing dirty water, electromagnetic fields, all of these different things, stressors, just even emotional stress, can affect our mitochondria or how efficient they are. So, as we're getting older, age is the biggest factor that affects our mitochondria. and also antibiotics and different medications can affect our mitochondria as well. So we've got fewer mitochondria and the mitochondria that we do have that are functioning are being affected by all of these things in our environment. Now, we can do a lot to protect ourselves. You know, most people are wearing sunscreen or, or hats or whatever to protect their skin from the, the damaging rays of the sun. And, you know, we try to eat a clean diet, drink clean water, take care of our bodies as best we can. But one of the things is replenishing redox signaling molecules. Because when we can, when we maintain that balance then we're going to be, our cells are going to be so much better able to resist the stressors and to resist the damage of the oxidative stress from that imbalance. And so that's one of the things that we can do that's gonna help us have a healthier cell and a healthier body.
What happens to our skin as we age? How to combat signs of aging and keep your skin healthy?
Maureen Hayes: As we age, our skin loses a lot of its elasticity and some of the structural proteins to help to keep it kind of taut and plump and full. It also thins out and becomes a lot more fragile. So, in older people, you may notice that they tear their skin more easily, have a lot more bruises, damage to the skin. And one of the things that we can do is keep our skin well hydrated. we can protect it from the sun and the damaging rays of the, the UV rays of the sun. and also make sure that we're staying hydrated internally by drinking a lot of clean fresh water and also by using different products on our skin that are healthy and clean. It's very important to look at the ingredients that are in your skin care because you absorb things through your skin.
Maureen Hayes: know, you want them to be as clean as anything that you would put in your mouth really. And so look at, at what's in your skin care. You know, you pay a price to be beautiful, but there's nothing as beautiful as being healthy and having healthy skin.
What ingredients should individuals look for in skincare? And share your opinions about our skin care products
Maureen Hayes: When you're looking for a skin care line, you want to find something that is very clean and has simple ingredients in it. You want to look for something that doesn't have anything that you don't want on your skin. Non GMO gluten free fragrance free, no synthetic colors or dyes, no para parabens, no sulfates, no palates, no formaldehyde or anything like that. You want things that are gonna, they're gonna protect your skin and feed your skin. Our skin care line is is incredible. It starts with a foaming cleanser that is very gentle, very silky leaves your face feeling just incredibly smooth and soft. And then we follow that with, I like to use a layer of the RENU28 gel so that we get redox right on our fresh clean skin. Follow that with our toner which not only has chamomile and different things to calm the skin but also has probiotics for the skin that, that actually protect you. So instead of using it like you're an old fashioned as stringent like your your mom or grandma used to use this one, you're going to pat onto your face and leave in place because it's going to put that protective barrier. Then we follow that up with a Glow serum that just has amazing ingredients in it. Like I can never say this word Ademola and it, that soothes and just calms the skin down has very high grade vitamin C in it. Two forms of Hyaluronic acid which helps to plump the skin and smooth out the wrinkles and all just is incredible for your skin. And then we follow that up with an incredibly luxurious moisturizer that just puts volume and hydration back to the skin and gives you just such a youthful look. So these ingredients are incredibly clean, they're simple, they have everything you want in them and none of the things that you don't. So try it for yourself. This is an incredible line.
Caffeine consumption: Explain benefits, side effects, and what to look for when choosing a caffeine product
Maureen Hayes: Hey, talking about caffeine consumption. Caffeine is probably one of the most popular stimulants, central nervous stimulants that is used today. Most of us are getting our caffeine from our morning coffee, maybe a cup or two of that or maybe a cup of tea or even some chocolate. others are drinking energy drinks. They give them a whopping dose of caffeine very a big jolt. So it stimulates them. It's a big bang of energy and then a very quick fall off from that too. And you know, that can not always be a good thing because a lot of people get jittery from, from too much caffeine or they feel side effects from it. So when I'm looking for a caffeine product, first of all, I like for it to be organic. I like for it to have sort of a sustained energy boost, you know, different forms of the Xanthine family have different effects. So, Guana is a great source of caffeine and that's in one of our products energy. So it has a slower burn if you will, than most caffeines do, it comes on a little slower and it lasts a little longer. So the effect is not as noticeable and it's actually paired with things that help to tamper down the jitteriness that maybe some people get or a racing heart, you can get a racing heart. Some people do from caffeine as well. So when you're looking for a caffeine product, make sure it's something that's compatible with your system. Some people are highly sensitive to it. Others not so much. But for me, caffeine is part of every day. I love the focus that it gives me the energy that it gives me just a little bit of a boost. So makes my day go much better.
What is your favorite ASEA product and why?
Maureen Hayes: What is my favorite as a product? And why? Oh gosh, that is really a tough one. I will say that I am very faithful to this product. It's the one when this is all we had when I first got started. So I do not miss this product any day. I take personally take about eight ounces a day as does my husband. We just find that it completes us, right? It gives us energy, it helps with our mood. It helps with our, our resilience to stress. doesn't take the stress away, but it helps with our coping mechanisms. And, you know, it's funny we once were traveling and we didn't have the product with us. Both of us thought the other one had packed it and by the end of the week, we were dragging, we could barely stay awake at night. I mean, just everything just seemed so hard and we were like, what is wrong with us? And we realized we had been off the product for a week now, you know, we're not spraying chickens anymore, but we do feel like we are when we're taking this product that said the gel, which is this product in the topical form is probably one of the most versatile products. I have it, we have it in every room of our house, we have it in our cars and our glove box in the bathroom, in the bedroom everywhere because it's just so versatile and has so many different uses to it and it works really, really fast. So it's an amazing product. And then of course, they come along with the intensive serum, which is, you know, like the gel on steroids and the clay mask, which it does amazing things for the skin of your face, but also anywhere else on your body, I've put it on, you know, cat scratches and bug bites and different things. And it's just amazing how quickly things heal using that. And then of course, we have our nutritional products which are, I can't say enough good about not quite as sexy as the redox I don't think. And then the cell performance and of the cell performance can't live without the energy and the mind that keeps me sharp, keeps me on task, keeps me focused. The mood was probably my least favorite. I didn't think I needed it until I started taking it. And I realized that it just sort of makes everything better. You know, it's got Gaba in it, which is a sort of inhibitory neurotransmitter, which kind of just calms things down, stops the chatter in your head. And also has Ashwagandha that fights oxidative stress, just mellows you out, you know, controls some of cortisol and different things in your body saffron that if you're having some mood swings, you know, especially for women. We go through times in our life where we're a little moody, we're a little grouchy hot and it helps with a lot of that vaso motor stuff as well. So incredible, incredible products. But you know what Radiance hands down. Radiance is delicious and it has an amazing effect on your skin, on your hair, on your nails. You know, everybody wants to look their best. You know, I I'm in my sixties. I don't want to look like I'm 20 but I do want to look good for a 60 year old and with the radiance, you know that that's just that added bit of col just not, not just Collagen, collagen rice ceramides for your skin. Maqui berry. That has not only incredible benefits for your skin and your hair and all of that, but for your blood pressure and your heart and, and just overall health, it's an amazing, the Delphin all amazing ingredient that they have in there. So at the end of it, which one is my favorite? I don't know, it depends on the day of the week and the time of the day cause I love them all So thank you.
Anything else you would like to share with us?
Maureen Hayes: I would just like to say that I am so happy that I was introduced to ASEA and to redox signaling molecules. It's been almost 12 years for me and my family and we're healthier, happier, look better function better now than we did before we got started. So it's great. I look forward to a great future on all of these products and just hope that we can share this with so many more people around the world. Thank you.
