Kim Marie : Thank you so much for bringing Hoku in today so that we can meet Hoku. Yes. Would you mind telling us a little bit about how Hoku will help you with the Orem police department? Yeah. So what I do in the police department, I'm not a sworn officer, but I'm one of the victim advocates. So we respond out to domestic violence, suicide, homicide. You know, if there's anything kind of tragic that they're kind of meeting an advocate with a victim, we get called out to the scene or we handle the cases later on. So we're trying to utilize her so that she can sit in with these victims and give them that sense of peace. That's amazing. Have you um seen studies or statistics on how dogs are able to help the victims during these tragic times? Yes. So, in Florida, for example, there was a study done where 50 to 80% of the Children disclosed. for example, the abuse that they went through whether it was sexual or not. In the east coast especially, they have shown that law enforcement in general with dogs present with them. People are more open to them. And I'm not law enforcement. but I do work with them and II, I wear the badge with them or like this little emblem. So people do really associate us with the police department. But it would just, it would help them give them a sense of peace, you know, knowing that there's a neutral party that can potentially help them, calm down their fears, any kind of biases they have towards the police department. So that's amazing. Well, thank you so much for bringing Hoku in today so that we could meet her. Thank you to the donors of the foundation for allowing us to be able to have a partnership with the Orange Police Department and helping the victims of abuse. The mission statement of the foundation is to break cycles of poverty, suffering and abuse and this is one way that your donations are helping to do that and allow those survivors of abuse to be able to find peace in their life. Thank you.
