Tell us a little bit about yourself
Kristin: Hi there. My name is Kristen. I'm going to be 43 next month. I am off work because I have post concussion syndrome and I have three dogs who I adore. My interests are hiking and woodworking.
Tell us about your diagnosis
Kristin: Several years ago, I had, had three years of a respiratory infection. I had gone to the emergency room one night, and then the following year had another infection. So I got diagnosed by my primary care physician and it was very easy. It was already in the same clinic that I went to and it's been very wonderful to have it be managed up until this point.
How has your life changed since your diagnosis?
Kristin: Since my diagnosis, I now take a daily puffer. It's the Brio and I've also implemented several changes in my life. So I have two humidifiers that were recommended that definitely help me when I'm sleeping. I have pillow covers and mattress covers. I make sure that the dust is at a minimum and since I am refinishing furniture, I make sure that I'm protecting my lungs by wearing a respirator as well as buying a new dust extractor that is, has HEPA filters to make sure I'm doing everything I can to minimize any of the effects of the asthma on my life.
How has Best Care impacted your life?
Kristin: Since coming to see the respiratory therapist in my primary care physician's office, I've been able to implement those changes that were suggested and they've definitely made an impact on my day to day life. I've been able to take what he has taught me and then implement it and it's made a world of difference.
Do you have a message for others about the Best Care program?
Kristin: If you have asthma, it is absolutely a treat and a blessing to be able to have someone from the Best Care team be able to help you. They give suggestions and they also just give you an, an overall picture of what your health looks like. So in general, I would highly recommend.
