Tell us a little bit about yourself
Dennis: Hello, my name is Dennis. I'm 55 years old. Interest are the old west and music and I'm retired.
Tell us about your diagnosis
Dennis: My diagnosis of COPD came in 2010. A year before that I knew something was wrong, but my diagnosis came easy from my family physician and it just, it hit, hit me that and I had, didn't think that condition like that would hit me so early in life and it's just, it's changed my life a bit but living with it and continuing to try and do better with it.
How has your life changed since your diagnoses?
Dennis: My life's changed fair bit since my diagnosis in 2010. And I found it physically difficult to do things. With this program, I become more aware and I'm taking more steps and to helping myself. Yeah, my health conditions back in order and to do everything that I can physically and I do still have limitations, but I know how to live with that.
How has Best Care impacted your life?
Dennis: Best Care has completely impacted my life. I feel a lot more educated, knowing what to do with a flare up and how to take care of myself better. I'm a lot more educated and a lot more informed and my Best Care worker is unbelievable. She helps me with any silly questions I might have and it just, it, it's made my life with COPD easier for me to help and to control.
Do you have a message for others about the Best Care program?
Dennis: I have a message basically for politicians, other doctors and we just, we need the funding for this program. It's impacted my life greatly and it has helped me so much and we need funding for it, for it to keep going. You know, I, I would love to have this program continue and be spread, help others with COPD. It's needed, it helps us understand our COPD.
