Speaker: Maureen Carlo, Global Director of Strategic Partnerships, Arcules
Maureen Carlo: Hi, I'm Maureen Carlo, Global Director of Strategic Partnerships with Arcules.
What are you most excited about at ISC West this year?
Maureen Carlo: I think what I'm most looking forward to about ISC West this year is what I look forward to the most each year when I prepare to attend this conference, it's a lot of work getting ready for this week long event in Las Vegas. But that means we get to spend several days in a row in the same place at the same time with the security industry ecosystem, with our friends, with our partners, with our technology allies, with our customers, with thought leadership sessions. I really love being able to participate in the SIA Education at ISC series together with Arcules subject matter experts and with our partners. It's very fun to be able to collaborate and show up as thought leaders with, with our partners. I also very much look forward to the SIA Women in Security Forum annual keynote breakfast event. It's incredible to see the community of men and women that we have built in the WISF and to get together and celebrate new members being honored as power 100 recipients and see all the folks show up for the keynote and just for that dedicated time together that will be one of my favorite events at the conference. Of course, being together with the Arcules colleagues in the same place at the same time, that is just going to be energy that everyone's gonna feel around us. It's time well spent.
What is included in your ISC West survivor kit?
Maureen Carlo: What is in my ISC West Survivor kit? Well, let me tell you, I do not pack light for this trip. I make sure I bring a lot of shoes with me- flat shoes for the show floor. We don't wear high heels any longer, do we ladies? That's just not necessary, but either way, whatever we wear on our feet, I make sure to bring CBD lotion. So at the beginning of the day before I start walking many a mile, I put CBD lotion on my feet and at the end of the day, I use that on my feet also. Water- stay hydrated and lip gloss, lip balm. Keep your lips hydrated. We're talking a lot. It's very necessary that we keep that hydration going internally and externally. And finally, I discovered a couple of years ago that if I book end my ISC West experience with a trip at the Canyon Ranch Spa in The Venetian and Palazzo building, I can feel refreshed when I arrive in Las Vegas. And before I take my red eye home on Friday night. So that's a smart trick. Ladies and gentlemen, the spa at the Canyon Ranch.
How can attendees make the most out of ISC West this year?
Maureen Carlo: ISC West is a fun week. It is a busy week, a long week. It goes by quickly. So I'm very conscientious of being intentional with my time as I plan my calendar, as I prioritize the meetings that we need to have, but also prioritize book ending our meetings with time. Because whether you're walking from a meeting at one booth to another booth or off the show floor to a meeting room booth or a restaurant for an event, you're inevitably going to see people you know along the way that you do or don't have time to stop and hug and say a quick hello with so book end your meetings with time to get to and from those locations because things will delay us from showing up on time. And we really want to value the the time that we are spending with the people that we're proactively working to meet with. Also take advantage of the social and networking opportunities that are available to all attendees. The Market Leaders Reception on Tuesday night that SIA hosts is so much fun to kick off the conference. There are career zone sessions on the show floor that are free for attendees. Check out what those are because you don't have to be paying for everything you want to go to. And there are some great ways to meet new people that you might be targeting in your industry and also to be learning at the same time and having some fun. So check out the SIA sponsored events, your partner sponsored events and make sure that you're planning time to get to and from your meetings at the show and in the evening, because there's a lot we want to pack into one week and we can only do so much and be present while we're there.
What is one word you would use to describe ISCW?
Maureen Carlo: The one word I use to describe ISC West is ecosystem.
