Nicole Chan: Hi, I'm Nicole and I'm a software engineer in the C++ team at Arcules and I'm based in New York City.
What is unique about Arcules?
Nicole Chan: The people really stand out at Arcules, I've truly enjoyed working with every person I've come across. There are a ton of people I don't work with, but they're also really easy to talk to and connect with. We have a super diverse team and everyone still manages to bring a good energy to the table.
What about our culture really resonates with you?
Nicole Chan: I think it's important to recognize all that we are as human beings. So it's pretty special that people here can be vulnerable and open about their experiences inside and outside of work. I think overall, as a company, we recognize and value success in both work and our personal lives.
How have you grown since you've joined Arcules?
Nicole Chan: I'm continually learning so much technically. My teammates are great about providing teaching moments during code reviews, working collaboratively through an issue, answering questions and doing knowledge transfers with me. Also, my manager puts me on projects or tickets that align with whatever skills I want to gain.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give a new hire or candidates wanting to be part of Arcules?
Nicole Chan: Don't be afraid to put yourself out there and engage with the team. Ask a lot of questions if you have them speak up. If you see something that could be improved, communicate about where you're at. Everybody's happy to help and accommodate or to do a knowledge transfer. Everyone's also really well rounded. So you're welcome to share as much of your personal interest and personality as you wish.
What has fueled your passion since being at Arcules?
Nicole Chan: My energy has been fueled by all the learning opportunities and being surrounded by a team of very knowledgeable and passionate people.
