Who are you, what is your occupation, how many years have you been doing it, and why did you get into your career?
Brian Ewing: Hi, my name is Brian Ewing. I am an RSP teacher in Sacramento City Unified School District. I've been teaching for about 26 years now. I have about 4 more to go. Uh, my wife is also a teacher in the district. She's been in there close to 20 now. I've always wanted to teach, uh, I wanted to teach PE, uh, but the next best thing was going into special ed, so, uh, I thought that would be a better. Uh, avenue for me is going mild, moderate special education.
Before working with us, what did you know (or not know) about your pension, retirement, and insurance benefits?
Brian Ewing: I didn't know anything about retirement. I didn't know anything about pensions, insurance. I didn't know anything about that getting into it in the beginning. Uh, I've heard about it from a lot of my friends, but I've never, you know, raising my kids. I've never thought about it about me. I've always thought about my kids first. Then I ran into Edgar, he had a little seminar at the school, and he enlightened me to a lot of things, so I'm glad I did and I'm glad I met up with him. I'm glad I'm working with him because if it wasn't for him, I don't know where I would be right now.
What changed since meeting with us, and how did we help you feel more confident about your financial future?
Brian Ewing: Since meeting with Edgar, uh, uh, my life has changed a lot, you know, I, I had a new, uh, I have a new outlook, knowing that, hey, things can be OK after I retire, after I retired teaching. I don't have to teach until I, you know, 75 years old. Uh, he's guided me, he's enlightened me to a lot of different avenues that I can go as far as teaching, as far as retiring, as far as when I can retire, and he gave me a lot of information about my financial future, so. I'm glad I continue to work with Edgar.
