Greg Savage: recruitment agency strategy

Greg Savage: The amount of meetings I've sat in about the strategy of a recruitment business would have to be more than well, probably more than anyone in the history of man. I've been in recruitment 45 years, almost all of it around the management table. And the amount of plans and strategising that goes nowhere, because there is no implementation. What we actually need is somebody to hold you accountable, because what I find is most owners, even if there's two of them will say, "Yeah we're gonna do this, we're gonna do that. We're gonna do this. There's gonna be that" and then the next board meeting. "Have you done it?" "Oh no, we got busy filling jobs and this happened and that happened" There's no one to hold them accountable. Now, I'm on the board of 16 recruitment companies. That's what I do for a living. And I like to think I provide them good advice. But, when I do my reviews with them and I ask them what they value, what they mostly value is I keep them accountable, because I am the guy to say "You're busy, I don't know anyone who's not busy. You said you're gonna hire three people by June. It's June. What have you been doing?"
