Greg Savage: A temp recruiter and a perm recruiter have a lot of things in common, but they have some substantial differences. There is much more urgency and speed on the temporary side and the temp recruiter needs to approach their job with the fact that I will tell the client who will do this job. Whereas, the perm recruiter creates a shortlist and the client selects and unfortunately, our industry has has dumbed itself down in the last 10 years to the point where some temp recruiters are actually allowing their clients to do interviews to fill the 2 week payroll job, for goodness sake. That is ridiculous. If I'm a great temp recruiter and I've placed this payroll person into 27 jobs over the last 4 years, which by the way is common. And a client gives me a straightforward payroll job. I will sell to the client that Mary Smith will turn up Monday morning at 9 o'clock, it costs $42 an hour. No interviews. You gotta be joking!
