Speaker: Paige Robinson, Student; Accepting

Your Name, what brought you to Regis?

Paige Robinson: Hi, I'm Paige Robinson. I am an undergrad here at Regis University in Business Admin. Um, what got me to come to Regis was that I knew, when I first visited Denver a couple of years ago, that I wanted to go to school out here, because I just love the outdoors and I love to hike. I find the mountain very beautiful, so I just really enjoy the outdoors out here. It's very beautiful. Um, and when I came to visit a couple of schools here in Denver, Regis was the best fit for me. I felt really comfortable and accepted here. Um, and I also got a lot of scholarships, which was very nice.

Chose a word to describe yourself. (e.g., innovator, leader, immigrant, etc.) Why did you choose this word?

Paige Robinson: I would say a word to use, um, describe myself is accepting. I am a very accepting person and I want anyone to feel included whenever they're around me, but just in general, I know what it's like to not be accepted in society by many people as a black female. There's been times where I have been silenced and just not included in many instances. So, I never want anybody to feel like that. So, I am very passionate about people being accepted and included no matter what, because regardless of your race, your gender, your religion, everyone should be accepted and understood.

How does that word fit with your experience at Anderson College of Business and Computing?

Paige Robinson: I would say accepting fits in with the, um, Anderson College of Business and Computing, because in general, I have felt very accepted here and by the Regis community. Um, I will admit that because I am one of the only black students here at the university, there are times I do kind of feel out of place and not included, but it's never because of how students and staff may treat me. I can tell that here, um, within the Anderson College of Business and Computing that regardless of what I look like, they will be, they'll try their hardest to accept me for who I am, and I think that, again, that's very important to have within a community.
