Speaker: Maddie Gardner , Student; Motivated

Your Name, what brought you to Regis?

Maddie Gardner : Hi, my name is Maddie Gardner, and I came to Regis because one, we have a really good women's soccer program and two, I came to one of the best computer science programs ranked in Colorado. I was looking for a small school environment that supported student athletes, as well as small classes and a challenging academic course.

Chose a word to describe yourself. (e.g., innovator, leader, immigrant, etc.) Why did you choose this word?

Maddie Gardner : A word that I would use to describe myself is motivated. I would describe myself as motivated, because on the soccer pitch or in the classroom, I would say that I'm one of the most hard-working people and I'm just simply motivated to get it done, and motivated to actually learn the material, or learn how to get better in soccer. There's no perfect for anything, and I'm always willing and up for a challenge.

How does that word fit with your experience at Anderson College of Business and Computing?

Maddie Gardner : Being motivated is honestly, probably one of the most important character traits that you need to be in the computer science department. The course loads is very hard. It's very math heavy and it just uses your brain in a completely different way, and the course load is very heavy, so you need to stay on top of your work and be motivated to get it done. And if you aren't, then you'll definitely struggle, but because I have that character trait, I've done well.
