Speaker: Cooper Carmody, Graduate Student; Leader

Your Name, what brought you to Regis?

Cooper Carmody: Hello, my name is Cooper Carmody. Um, I was brought to Regis University by the academics and the athletics here. When I was going through my graduate process of trying to find a school that both fit my needs for golf and for school, Regis was one of those places that was at the top of the list that could cross off all of the boxes that I needed.

Chose a word to describe yourself. (e.g., innovator, leader, immigrant, etc.) Why did you choose this word?

Cooper Carmody: If I had to choose a word to describe myself, it would probably be leader. One of the reasons is because I'm a co-captain here at the Regis men's golf team. I was also a captain at my previous university's golf team. Um, I think a couple of things that, of my characteristics that are leader-like are high level personal integrity, um, working on my priorities, having a clear vision and goal, being self-motivated, and focusing on strong communication.

How does that word fit with your experience at Anderson College of Business and Computing?

Cooper Carmody: The word leader fits pretty well at my experience at the Anderson College of Business and Computing, um, mainly based, solely on the fact that I'm getting a master's in leadership, so I guess they're right hand-in-hand, it goes pretty well together. Um, my undergrad was in finance, so getting a master's in leadership now, I think it fits in very well. I think it is fitting into my timeline of what I want to do with my life ,and what is coming for me in the future. Um, and, I think gaining leadership skills while playing a team sport has really, really benefited me for the long run, being able to have different strategies and practices that I can benefit, and put into practice both in work and non-workplace situations.
