Randy Kempfer, O.D.: Of all the people in our optometric family, students should be critical to coming to Capitol Hill. When you graduate, everything that you assume you can do, someone has done some advocacy work to get you to that point. You know, if you want to see a Medicare patient or treat glaucoma, it's because of the advocacy work decades ago and so just see all the work that got you to this point and all the work that still needs to be done and so if you can see that firsthand and be be part of the process early on, it'll hook you for life for wanting to be an advocate for your patients and it's the best way to do it.
