Speaker: William Jackson, O.D., DEI Advisory Committee
William Jackson, O.D.: Now for 2024, I believe the optometric profession can accomplish a way for better reimbursement for vision plans and medical insurances nationwide. Also to increase the notoriety of optometry of our optometric profession since medicine and law have been romanticized in the media in this society for many years. I think it's time now to open the public's eyes to optometry. What do we do and its connection to overall health.
William Jackson, O.D.: Volunteer and get a seat at the table and be the change. You want to see. The benefits of knowledge I received from AOA during COVID were invaluable. I saw how useful AOA was and I decided to contribute by volunteering more. So glad I did. I've gotten a chance to meet peers across the country I would have not met otherwise. Get involved, be committed and be what I like to say, optometry strong. Volunteer.
