Brian Kubo, O.D.: A great benefit of being part of the AOA is they're keeping us up to date on current events. A prime example was during COVID, giving us the information to reopen and keeping ourselves, our patients and our staff safe was essential. Also, the information they gave on filing for the PPP program, and reconciling saved us thousands, and we were able to fund ourselves and our staff's salary during those tough times.
Brian Kubo, O.D.: AOA offers some great CE opportunities, Optometry's Meeting every June is a great meeting to attend to. Great CE, great speakers with wide variety of topics, a great location, usually also access to your state association meeting usually that reduced costs and that's nice to have something close by, and also EyeLearn is a great source for those of you that want to do virtual CE.
Brian Kubo, O.D.: I think advocacy is probably the most important reason we should be a part of the AOA as corporate ODs. Their advocacy for our scope of practice, protecting us against predatory VBM policies that are gonna affect our payments since many of us only receive payments for professional services and things like being paid for Medicare, that was all part of the AOA and if you're billing medical, that's an extremely big part of our practice revenue.
