Speaker: Caroline Pate, O.D., Faculty & Student Membership Liaisons Committee
Caroline Pate, O.D.: First and foremost, obviously is to protect the profession, to continue to do that, as well as embracing technology and expanding the scope of practice in many states across this country. But I really would love to see, in 2024, our profession embracing the younger generation and inspiring future optometrists, looking into the high schools and colleges as to how we can get them involved in the profession and seek out optometry as a future career.
Caroline Pate, O.D.: I love optometry but it is so much more than just seeing patients day-to-day. I think my professional satisfaction is really enhanced because I serve as a volunteer. It just gives me a sense of purpose. The relationships and networking opportunities have been just second to none. And it really makes me love what I do even more than I thought I ever could.
