Bill Hefner, O.D.: Going into 2024, I'd really like the organization to continue its focus on building cohesive, collaborative relationships that really put camaraderie or friendship front and center as we continue to build upon those rights, those privileges and those practice abilities that we currently have, while retaining our focus on the vision for the future.
Bill Hefner, O.D.: When I visit with students and colleagues about the importance of being involved. I always boil it down to a simple question: If not you, who? If you don't step up and you don't fill the void, if you don't take the task and you don't carry the ball, how do we advance the profession? How do we advance our abilities? How do we advance the quality of care that our patients receive? So I very much put the onus and the focus back on the individual member, the student and engage them in the thought process of how they can contribute in a more meaningful way and they can fill others' cups while getting the sense of fulfillment themselves.
