Speaker: Verena M. Schreiber, MD, FAAOS
Verena M. Schreiber, MD, FAAOS: Hello. My name is Verena Schreiber. I'm a current Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and I've been a member since 2008.
Why have you chosen to fill out the Member Value and Satisfaction (MVAS) survey in the past?
Verena M. Schreiber, MD, FAAOS: I chose to fill out the MVAS because I think it's important to make our voices heard and also to help shape the Academy in the future.
What 1 or 2 ways do you think filling out the MVAS survey makes an impact?
Verena M. Schreiber, MD, FAAOS: When you are as large as an organization as the Academy is. I think it's hard to really get everybody's feedback. And I think by filling out the MVAS, that's the most direct way to communicate with the Academy and let them know what we as members need.
How has AAOS “Heard You”, or can you provide an example of the type of feedback you have shared with AAOS in the past?
Verena M. Schreiber, MD, FAAOS: I think this goes back to my time as Vice Chair on the Resident Assembly. At that time when the Resident Assembly was launched, the Academy was really interested in listening to the residents and see what our needs are or our needs were at that time. And I think this has grown significantly since then. And for residents, I think they have become a more integral part of the Academy. And I hope this is going to continue to grow even more in the future.
Anything else you would like to share that you feel would communicate the importance of participating in the MVAS survey to your colleagues?
Verena M. Schreiber, MD, FAAOS: So I hope that many of my colleagues will decide to fill out this year's MVAS and together we can make an impact.
