Speaker: Kayla Malcolm

What was your background before joining Align and how did Align Academy help you learn?

Kayla Malcolm: My background before joining Align was that I studied physics and computer science, so I had technological skills. They were just more so geared to things like programming and back and development. So Align Academy actually afforded me the opportunity to grow a knowledge base and things having to do with HR and workforce systems so that now I can actually combine my technological skills with that knowledge base and I'm able to do my job very efficiently and using all of the skills that I've been given the opportunity to develop in this context.

How much personal attention and coaching did you receive in Align Academy?

Kayla Malcolm: I've actually received a lot of personal attention and coaching um in Align Academy uh to my very pleasant surprise coming into this role in coming into this company, I didn't expect there to be a lot of personal attention, maybe some guidance in terms of where I should prioritize my focus in the first month or so of my training. But um I have received oodles of guidance, oodles of support, oodles of just, just a lot of um, you know, tips and that sort of thing. Things that people have picked up along the way regardless of whether or not they've been with Align a few months or a few years, it's been all fantastic. Um and the coaching has really been great too because it's allowed me to get a better sense of how best to approach the different tasks and the different um topics and content that is required to be versed in and aware of when being a part of Align. So that has been great and a lot of attention and and coaching a lot of it basically

What stands out to you about the culture at Align?

Kayla Malcolm: Uh the thing, well there have been a lot of things when it comes to the culture the line that have surprised me um but I think the thing that has stood out to me the most is the amount of support and camaraderie that I have seen in the culture just how it is that people are willing to collaborate and to give a hand and to answer questions and to go through things with you time and again. Um I'm not particularly used to that so it's it's been very very reassuring I think is the best word to use, It's been very reassuring. Um how supportive the culture is here at Align, I think it's amazing, it's I definitely feel a lot better about coming into it so new because I've never been made to feel like I'm inept or I'm not proficient or I can't um work in my role or be a part of Align because it's all just been so welcoming and supportive with guidance and training and outside of training and just caring about other people beyond just what it is that they do within the company, but also caring about the people behind those roles. I think that's definitely thing that has stood out to me the most in terms of Align's culture, it's definitely how supportive and community, like very much its own ecosystem. Uh that's definitely the thing that has stood out to me the most about Align's culture

Would you recommend Align to a friend?

Kayla Malcolm: I've already actually recommended a line to several friends. Uh I whenever I've been asked about how my job is going or what I'm doing now in terms of, you know, post university first degree, um I've spoken very highly of Align already. Um I think Align is an amazing company in terms of the prioritization of people over profit. I always heard it, but I never really saw it represented before and align definitely embodies that where I I feel like I'm cared about that. Uh My boss, my supervisor, whomever I it doesn't feel like they are my boss or someone that's, you know, over me in terms of um the conversation or the exchanges that we have on a daily or weekly basis. Um It's still obviously a professional setting, but it doesn't feel as if I'm just a body that is meant to meet a mark in in some way. So I would absolutely recommend Align to friends or to a friend and I already have. So that goes without saying that, yeah, I'm pretty proud to be a part of Align
