Speaker: Vincent Tupper, MD, Interventional Pain Medicine - Advocate Health, Midwest
Vincent Tupper, MD: Hello. My name is Doctor Vincent Tupper and I'm an interventional pain physician at Advocate Health. I've been working at Advocate for approximately, two months.
Why did you choose Advocate Health?
Vincent Tupper, MD: I've been practicing pain medicine for approximately seven years since graduating fellowship. Initially after fellowship, I began my job as a private practice physician and continued to do this. Until recently, starting an advocate, I decided to leave private practice because I felt that the field was becoming very isolating and lacked any team or camaraderie experience.
Can you describe your recruitment and onboarding experience? What did you enjoy most about the hiring process?
Vincent Tupper, MD: My entire recruitment and onboarding experience was I would say both easy and effortless. This began with an initial call with CR who basically got to know me to see if I was a good fit or if advocate was also a good fit for me. She was there every step of the way and was extremely communicative. So any question I had I did usually get an answer within, within minutes, which I might be believe is above and beyond. And so it was very nice um being interviewed by a company that was so enthusiastic for the well being of a possible future employee. The on boarding experience was also just as organized and what I loved about it was that Advocate wanted to make sure that I was comfortable and ready. So the first week instead of just throwing, I guess a clinician into the work environment, I had a week of having meetings, a week of training, a week of other support seminars, really just to get me ready for practice, to have the tools to know how I could access and get help. Um going forward with my clinical practice, my team manager also was extremely helpful in creating an itinerary and everything was very systematic and really, you always have support wherever you are in the process. And so it's been, it's been very refreshing so far.
What advice would you give to current residents or fellows considering continuing their career at Advocate Health?
Vincent Tupper, MD: My advice would be to ask any questions or address any concerns that you have because the team here is very transparent and if someone doesn't know the answer, they will find the answer for you. And they are not afraid to give the answer.
In what ways does Advocate Health foster a collaborative and supportive environment?
Vincent Tupper, MD: Since the beginning, it's been very clear that advocate fosters a supportive clinical environment. This began with my initial screening call and this continued to be reinforced in my daily, day to day clinical experience coming from private practice, I was used to little to no support. So it's been very refreshing to be at such a supportive institution. I believe the supportive environment has enabled physicians to also cultivate a more collaborative environment. I've only been here for two months, however, many colleagues have already reached out in order to create a better access um better access protocols for our patients.
