Speaker: Ami Hampole, DO, PM&R - Advocate Health, Midwest
Ami Hampole, DO: Hi, my name is Doctor Ami Hampole. I am a physiatrist who specializes in musculoskeletal medicine, sports medicine, and electrodiagnostic medicine. I've been with Advocate Health Care for one year.
Why did you choose Advocate Health after residency/fellowship?
Ami Hampole, DO: I started working here in the Advocate system right after finishing residency. And I chose Advocate because my husband works in the Advocate system. He loves it. And also my, my children also see doctors in the Advocate system and we've been very happy with them. So, I've heard great things about the Advocate system and have had a great year so far.
In what ways does Advocate Health foster a collaborative and supportive environment?
Ami Hampole, DO: Attendings here are flexible with their thought processes and are approachable. There are many opportunities to bump into other physicians outside or at work which allows one to create a personable network for communication, collaboration, and consultation. The doctors who work here are passionate about what they do while also not getting burned out. And all staff treat each other with respect, which is also emphasized early in our education modules as well. Patients who have been here longer than I have have many positive experiences to share about their care here. And finally, all ideas are welcome when pitched to higher ups. All these qualities help create a very positive working culture.
Can you describe your recruitment and onboarding experience? What did you enjoy most about the hiring process?
Ami Hampole, DO: The recruitment and onboarding process was pretty smooth. Everyone was friendly, easy to talk to, all my questions were answered. I was able to meet the higher ups who run the operations. Many of whom also have a background in health care, which is always a plus. In fact, they made the time to meet me and my colleagues individually, which was amazing. I felt my ideas were always welcome. And all of this made me feel like I would be a valued part of the team.
What advice would you give to current residents or fellows considering continuing their career at Advocate Health?
Ami Hampole, DO: For any incoming residents and fellows considering a career at Advocate Health, I would highly recommend it because I had such a positive experience here. However, it's important you also see if it's a good fit for you by visiting, trying to meet other patients and asking about their experiences here, talk to meet everyone in your department as well as other departments because we like to think of ourselves as a collaborative environment um and try to visualize yourself and see if you see yourself as a good fit here. It's very important that you feel like you could be yourself and be able to ask any questions that are on your mind. That's how I felt and that's why I felt welcome here. But it's important you feel that way as well. Also very important that you not only see that, you know, you have everything you need to practice successfully at this time, but also think ahead, you know, what would you want to see? Where would you see yourself, you know, in the future in terms of growth and would Advocate be able to provide that for you as well. So I felt that way and that's why I'm here.
