What do you love the most about working for Adventist HealthCare?

Erin Baumgardner: Here at Adventist HealthCare Rehabilitation, it's about more than just treating the physical ailments. We also prioritize the mental and spiritual well being of our patients, which aligns with our mission to extend God's care. You can see that our environment is driven by compassion, empathy, and every day, I have the ability to witness our team making lasting impact on the patients and families of those that we serve.

Can you tell us what it is like to work for the rehabilitation team?

Erin Baumgardner: The acute rehab environment is collaborative and patient focused. Our patients participate in three hours of therapy, five days a week, occupational therapy, speech therapy or physical therapy. And we help them achieve their functional goals for a safe discharge. We're CARF acredited in five specialty programs, brain injury, amputation, spinal cord, stroke and general rehab. The patients have an average length of stay of around 14 days which allows us to establish meaningful relationships with them through their journey.

What is a day in the life like on this team?

Erin Baumgardner: We're able to care for members of our community that have had significant events in their lives and ensure that we provide personalized care plans that allow them to achieve a successful discharge so that they're ready for the next step of their patient journey. So you work with physicians, nurses, therapists, care navigators, dieticians, pharmacists and more to make sure that we can achieve those goals with them. It's really special.

What is one thing you would like to share to someone who is joining this team?

Erin Baumgardner: Adventist HealthCare truly is a great place to have a career. I started here 15 years ago as a new grad and I'm so glad that I did. There's opportunities for career advancement programs, a preceptor academy. We support continuing education and clinical ladders as well as certifications and a number of different specialties. Our goal is to ensure that every team member has the tools they need to thrive in their career in our environment. Come join our team at Adventist HealthCare.
