Speaker: Maya A.

Maya A.: Hi, my name is Maya and I want to be a physician's assistant. And in order to do that, I need to get lots of patient care experience hours, but I had a hard time finding a job that would give me those hours without having any sort of certification. And so when I found ACT I was super excited and signed up immediately because this course would let me get that certification completely online

How would you describe your overall experience with Advanced eClinical Training (ACT)?

Maya A.: I had a really positive experience at the ACT. Despite it being a completely online course, I felt that the content was engaging. It wasn't just watching videos or reading textbooks all day. They were interactive experiences, such as the patient clinical simulation activities, and I found those really enjoyable because it felt like I was in a clinical setting

How did interactive study tools influence your learning experience?

Maya A.: The interactive activities were really helpful for me to get that feeling of having patient interaction and get comfortable with interacting with patients, because that is something that I was definitely nervous about in taking a completely online course was I wouldn't get that patient interaction. However, I do feel prepared to go into a real clinical setting and interact with real patients.

How did ACT make you feel supported throughout the program, even in a fully online format?

Maya A.: Despite it being online, I felt really supported throughout my time at ACT. My instructor was always available to have one on one conversations. There are a lot of discussions where you post a discussion post and then people respond to it, and that really prompted some sense of community with my classmates. And also the instructors left a really helpful feedback on all of my assignments, which helped me improve.

What advice would you give to someone who is considering enrolling in an ACT program?

Maya A.: My biggest piece of advice to anyone considering doing ACT is to just enroll. I think it's a really great experience and it's so helpful that it's completely online and you can do it at your own pace, and this would be great for anyone that's currently in high school or college that wants to get their certification, but doesn't have the time or the availability to do in-person classes.
