Speaker: Denali Mohler
Denali Mohler: Hello, my name's Denali Moeller, and I'm currently a student in college, and I love this program because it's online, it's completely at your own pace. It's super flexible. You can do like 5 hours a week during the semester or I did it in the summer and finished it in just 3 weeks, basically doing it full time, like 40 or 50 hours a week. So I just loved that it was like super flexible and completely at your own pace and like super customizable.
Describe your overall experience completing the ACT program. What stood out to you the most?
Denali Mohler: My experience is amazing. I thought the curriculum was really in depth. I covered everything really well. I felt prepared for the final and for the certification exam with the NHA, and my favorite part were all of the virtual simulations because it allowed you to learn all the skills and feel like you were prepared and getting a good education even though the program was not in person.
How did the interactive activities impact your learning?
Denali Mohler: I really liked all the different interactive activities. It made it a lot more interesting compared to just having like straight videos or straight textbooks to read. So it added a lot of variety that made the course more entertaining. And I think having like the self-checks combined with graded quizzes along the way helped you really like learn the material as you're going through it versus like math. Memorizing a big chunk and then having a big test. So I think it helped with memory a lot and it was a good way to keep yourself accountable and make sure you're keeping up with the material. I liked that a lot of things you could redo as many times as you wanted for a good grade. And then the assignments were a mix of like the virtual simulations, the written responses, the discussion posts. Again, it was a lot of variety, helped keep it more interesting. Helped, help you like remember the material as you go and was like a good way to keep you accountable, make sure you're completing everything, and that you were learning everything on pace with the course.
In what ways did ACT make you feel supported, even though the program was online?
Denali Mohler: I really liked that all the assignments were graded within 24 hours, especially since I was doing the course full time and completed it, like accelerated in just 3 weeks. There wasn't any waiting around where I was waiting for assignments to get back so I can move on to the next module, so I really like that. And then they had like a chat box, they had an email you could reach out to. To contact the instructors, and everyone responded really quickly if you ever needed help or info or anything on an assignment, and you, you felt really supported. It felt like you had as much support as if it were an in-person course, so you definitely didn't feel like there was any like instruction or access to the instructors or anything lacking since it was online.
What advice would you give to someone who is considering enrolling in an ACT program?
Denali Mohler: But because it's online, it's super flexible, it's super customizable. You can go as slow or as fast as you want. I did it full time. I worked on it like 40 or 50 hours a week and was done in 3 weeks. Passed my certification exam on the first try, got like an 85 on the final. I felt really prepared, but you could also like if you're working full time, if you are a student and have a part-time job. If you're taking really high course load, you could work on it like 2 hours a week or 5 hours a week and take the whole year. So it's really customizable, it's really flexible, and that was my favorite part about it is it was super, like whatever pace you wanted, you could do it at whatever hours of the day. You, if you want to work on it at 3 a.m. you can. And things were always returned to you quickly, assignments were graded quickly. If you have any questions, they responded really fast. So it's definitely as challenging and as serious as an actual in-person course, but it has all the flexibility and benefits of being online, which I really liked.
