Speaker: Abigail Hanifin

Abigail Hanifin: Hi, my name is Abby. Um, I chose this program because of its unique features like the extra virtual shadowing. I thought was really cool, all the simulations, um. And just the reviews I found online were really great about this, and I wouldn't go any other way. Um, I think becoming a certified medical assistant is a great way to get patient care experience, which is what I was looking for. And this program was really helpful.

Describe your overall experience completing the ACT program. What stood out to you the most?

Abigail Hanifin: One thing that really stood out to me while my experience at um. With advanced clinical training was just the amount of information that they provided. It wasn't just about giving a PowerPoint. It was about assignments, making sure you understand it, um, simulations going through. I really liked the feature where you could talk to patients, um, through simulations. I thought that was really helpful.

How did the interactive activities impact your learning?

Abigail Hanifin: Things like quizzes, infographics, and clinical challenges really helped me understand topics. It's always for me, I'm like a, a visual, not a visual learner. I'm like a hands-on learner. So reading a slide doesn't really absorb into my brain that much. So after I would read and take notes, I would complete these extra activities, and it would really help to lock in the information.

In what ways did ACT make you feel supported, even though the program was online?

Abigail Hanifin: Um, advanced e-clinical training really helped me feel supported because I was constantly getting emails. Um, every time I submitted. Uh, assignment, I got like a personalized email, which I thought was really, really nice. And it wasn't just a generated like, oh, you submitted the assignment. It was, you did a great job. And it was always coming from a person. I could respond to that email if I had questions, which I did many times, and I always got answers right away from the teachers.

What advice would you give to someone who is considering enrolling in an ACT program?

Abigail Hanifin: I would definitely recommend um people to take the ACT program, because it was very doable with a busy schedule like I have. It provides so much information, and it really well prepared me for the exam. Um, and I also think that becoming a certified medical assistant just expands job opportunities so much. And it really helps you understand, like, have a deeper, deeper understanding before going into your career.
