Speaker: Corey Gillon, FIFO Boilermaker, Queensland

Please tell us who you are and what you do.

Corey Gillon: My name is Corey Gillon. I'm 33 years old. I live in a little town between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast called Bribie Island. It's a beautiful little spot. I'm a fly in, fly out, boilermaker. I've been in the coal industry for the last 10 years, I suppose, and doing fly in, fly out for the last 13, I guess. I've got a 5 year old little girl. And yeah, extending our family again in August this year, and I've got another, another little girl on her way in August.

Before working with Access Wealth, how would you describe your overall financial situation at the time?

Corey Gillon: I guess I was just stuck. I didn't really have the guidance and the knowledge behind me to take that next step. of becoming financially free I suppose. I knew what I needed to do. A lot of people around me were doing the same sort of thing, pulling equity, buying properties, structuring their, their lifestyle, I suppose. But yeah, I just didn't really know which way to go and what would work best for me and my family.

At that stage, what challenges were getting in the way of you actually making financial progress?

Corey Gillon: I think I've just been stuck, I guess. Running a business, having the dad life,

Corey Gillon: And yeah, just not having the kick in the bum to take the next level to move forward, I suppose.

Corey Gillon: I wouldn't really say challenges, I suppose it was just a plateau in my life where I knew where to get to. I knew where to go with it. I just didn't know the steps to move forward.

Before speaking with Access Wealth, what concerns or doubts did you have about property investing?

Corey Gillon: Yeah, probably just not having the knowledge. Not having the knowledge of where to buy, what to buy. How to structure it around my tax as well with an investment property, Yeah, I think it was just the the doubt of not knowing and not having the knowledge behind me to move forward.

Did you have any hesitations about working with Access Wealth before starting?

Corey Gillon: Yeah, I guess I I was probably too caught up with my own life, my own day to day, dad life, work life, business life. I think everybody would be a bit hesitant to sort of take the next level. But yeah, I think it's definitely gonna pay off in the years to come.

If anything was holding you back at first, what made you decide to move forward with Access Wealth?

Corey Gillon: I think I just, I'm a big believer of everything happens for a reason. I feel like I just reached out to these, these guys. The probably the perfect timing of my life. And then when I did, I just also needed someone to lay things out the way they have structured this whole process, I suppose. And yeah, I just needed that kick in the bum to to keep moving forward.

What was your experience like working with your strategist and the team throughout the property journey?

Corey Gillon: Yeah, it was really great. John, John's such an approachable person. He's just a good vibe, good person to talk to. And yeah, I guess I'm probably not the smartest tool in the shed, but he, he speaks to you the way that he needs you to take in information. There is a lot of information, I suppose, to be done.

Corey Gillon: Yeah, he was just the right person to get your head around the whole thing every single time. And just made my life easy. Yeah, John's a great bloke, and yeah, it's been, it's been awesome working, working with him.

Since working with Access Wealth, what progress have you seen?

Corey Gillon: like. I feel like this whole process, it turns into a bit of an obsession when it comes to property, managing your super, managing all your money, where your money goes.

Corey Gillon: Yeah, I feel like I'm just constantly looking at realestate.com.au now and looking at investments and progressing for my future, for my family.

How would you describe your confidence now compared to before you started working with Access Wealth?

Corey Gillon: Yeah, I feel like I'm on another level now. I feel like I've just got motivation coming at me is. Yeah, I'm just constantly looking at the next thing, the next thing, the next thing, the next thing now, and yeah, it's just, it's something that I did need. I needed a kick in the ass to get moving and yeah, the confidence to move forward is just next level now.

What would you say to someone sitting on the fence about property investing with Access Wealth?

Corey Gillon: If you've, if you've got property, well, I think if you've got equity sitting there, you need to act. You need to act on it. Because the amount of money that you can gain by investing in property, you can't save that. The statistics prove that. And yeah, you snooze and you lose, I suppose. I think, I tell my friends, I tell my family, I tell the people that I'm working with, if you've got equity in a property, act on it and reach out to professionals that do know. How to take the next step and jumping on a property and scaling all your, yeah, all your money.
