What drew you to internal medicine?
Bau Tran, PA-C, PharmD: There are several things that drew me to internal medicine. I love the broad spectrum of medicine which offers a diverse and challenging scope of work. I love investigating and getting into the details of what brought the patient in. And also, I love the holistic care approach to helping the patient on their journey of getting better.
What are the biggest joys and challenges you've experienced in internal medicine?
students. I would say that the biggest joy that I've experienced in working in internal medicine is having the opportunity to be a part of my patients' extended family. To be able to be by their side on their journey through life and then also support them when they are most vulnerable. I would say that the biggest challenge that I've experienced in internal medicine is caring for the patients with chronic or life-threatening illnesses that I just can't fix or I just can't make it better and seeing them go through the end of life process.
