Speaker: Mary Mulcahey, MD FAAOS, Moderator, Career Dev 3 - Moving Toward a Critical Mass of Women in Orthopaedics
Mary Mulcahey, MD FAAOS: Hi, everyone Hi, everyone I'm Dr. Mary Mulcahey. I'm Chief of Sports Medicine at Loyola in Chicago. And I'm excited to have the chance to tell you about a career development session that I'll be doing at the Academy meeting in February with doctors Kristy Weber, Ann Van Heest, Ann Van Heest, and Jim Ficke, entitled Moving Toward a Critical Mass of Women in Orthopaedics.
Mary Mulcahey, MD FAAOS: This session is important because not only will we discuss challenges that we face with regards to gender diversity and orthopaedics, but we'll also focus on solutions and real tangible things that each of us can do day-to-day to improve diversity in our field.
Mary Mulcahey, MD FAAOS: After participating in this session, attendees will have a much better understanding of the power of intentional efforts to affect change and improve gender diversity.
Mary Mulcahey, MD FAAOS: In this session, we will discuss creating a sense of belonging for women in orthopaedics. How orthopaedic surgeons effectively integrate work and life responsibilities. The importance of promoting and sponsoring women in orthopaedics and the representation of women in orthopaedic leadership. It will be a very engaging session with ample time for questions and interaction between the faculty and attendees and this session will be applicable and valuable for all orthopaedic surgeons. We really hope you'll consider attending.
Mary Mulcahey, MD FAAOS: The AAOS Annual Meeting is the most comprehensive orthopaedic meeting in the world. The meeting will include excellent content related to clinical topics, personal and professional development, and numerous sessions focused on improving diversity in our field. I encourage you to take advantage of all the Academy has to offer.
