Video Transcript

In collaboration with the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America, the Orthopaedic Trauma Association can't wait to welcome you to beautiful San Diego for the 2025 OTA Specialty Day, your gateway to the latest in orthopaedic trauma care. I want to start by welcoming everybody to OTA 2025 Specialty Day. It's gonna be in San Diego in March. I think it'll be a really cool program that we put together. I think anybody who's interested in fracture care should attend and even beyond that. I think the program is accessible for all kinds of people, and there's a lot to learn for everybody from the person that takes call like once a month to the academic orthopaedic traumatologist that's super subspecialized. This is something we're pretty excited about every year at the end of the academy meeting, the specialties have a day dedicated just for. Their division of orthopaedics. So this year myself and Leah Gitan got to arrange the schedule and the lineup for specialty today. So the first 3 hours are combined lectures with orthopaedic trauma as well as orthopedic pediatrics for relevant topics that pertain to both specialties, and the remainder of the day will be talks that we selected of important articles that orthopaedic surgeons might not have read. As well as the chair choice articles that are picked from this meeting, the highlight articles, as well as what's down the pipeline, what's the future of orthopaedic trauma, and then finally it's going to conclude with the future OTA presidents and what their vision for the OTAs. Just one of the many highlights of specialty day is the OTA chair's Choice papers, which will cover topics including locked plating versus retrograde nailing for periprosthetic distal femur. humeral shaft fracture fixation, tip apex distance and apex to center risk factors, early versus delayed weight bearing after ankle fracture treatment, and suprapatellar versus infrapatellar techniques and tibial nailing. Following the chair's choice papers, OTA will announce the winners of the prestigious resident Memorial and Bovill Awards before leading the recipients. A Q&A discussion. 2025 OTA Specialty Day will conclude with insights from future OTA presidents on the direction of the organization and the field. I've done a tremendous amount of work in the developing world, and I want to continue to help raise the ideas of that and the opportunities for that to help globalize our products, our wisdom, our knowledge base so that the entire planet can benefit from the work that's been done and the resource base within the trauma association. Don't miss out on this opportunity to enjoy the beautiful city of San Diego while elevating your skills with thought provoking sessions, expert-led discussions, practical takeaways for your practice, and more. On March 14, 2025, I highly recommend anybody interested in orthopaedic trauma to register for the special today. Registration is open, so be sure to secure your spot today for 2025 OTA specialty day.
