Jeremy Bess: Hello everyone. My name is Jeremy Bess, an economist and speaker at ITR Economics. Hopefully not just your average economist - same nerd factor - more fun.
What will you be speaking about at the ALA Conference?
Jeremy Bess: With 2023 coming to a close, we're going to focus in on the remainder of this year but really start to target the demand factors of 2024 and 2025. So we'll absolutely be talking about factors such as pricing, labor constraints, but at the end of the day, the goal is to provide you insights into the future for your strategic planning.
What ideas will attendees be able to take back with them and put into practice?
Jeremy Bess: In a lot of my presentations, I tend to ask the audience to think about a question and usually the question should be "Why?" Why are we talking about this? Why is this important? In our case as we enter a new year another important question is "Where?" Where are we going? Where are we going as an industry? My goal in my presentation is to give you enough evidence to feel comfortable in what's going to be happening in 2024 and in 2025, looking at leading indicators to give us a glimpse into the future, looking at our forecasts to give us insights into the future. So that when you're planning for 2024 and 2025 you feel comfortable in knowing where we're going.
