Speaker: Kim Smith
Why does preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome awareness matter?
Kim Smith: There are too many women, too many families impacted by such a scary condition to not have the bells clanging loudly or regarding it. And there are too many families impacted with the loss of a child, the loss of a parent as a result of one of these dreadful hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. A lot of what the Preeclampsia Foundation does is provide education support the research because so much of the outcomes really could be preventable if we do the work, particularly the fatal outcomes. So it's so important that we, we bring the awareness and we raise up a new generation of researchers that are ready to help us explore how to really address preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome.
