In the New Year, what are your resolutions for the AOA in 2024?
Ronald L. Benner, O.D.: Hi, I'm Ron Benner, AOA president. My 2024 resolution, first off, to continue to help the board and the association advance AOA's high-priority agenda of reimbursement and coverage fairness. For too long, the balance of power has been tipped towards vision plans and away from the doctor/patients. We need to continue direct messaging to our membership, bringing them action and resources they can use. This will help move the needle. Additionally, second resolution is holding firm and securing optometry's right to perform laser and surgical procedures within the VA system. Both issues are of high priority and both issues require resources and commitment from the board and its officers. You will have mine.
