Talley Wells: Hello. My name is tally wells and I am the executive director of the north Carolina Council on developmental disabilities and I'm excited today to be doing my first ask me anything video for our social media at the North County Council on developmental disabilities. And our first question is I would like to know how to get my daughter in the system. Are there service coordinators, waivers habilis station plans? The answer to that question is yes, but the answer is also that the system is changing pretty significantly. So you're gonna want to keep up with everything that's going on. But the first place you go to get involved in the developmental disability system in north Carolina is your local L M E N C O L M E N C E O. And those are regional health health provider insurance, really sort of payers for health services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. And if you just google L M E M C O Directory north Carolina, you will quickly find uh the L M E M C O S and information about them and where your local L M E M C. O is and how to contact them. Also encourage you to follow what's happening with tailored care plans because the state is going to be moving in around december Of 2022 to tailored care plans which are going to provide care coordination and so you're gonna want to go to that website and follow what's happening. Um there is a pretty significant waiting list in North Carolina for a lot of developmental disability services but we really encourage you to go ahead and get on that waiting list. But also there's hope that more people will be getting services once the state goes to tailored care plans Because of something called 1915 I so pay um followed the North Carolina accounts on developmental disabilities. We're adding more information about Taylor care plans. 1915 I will be keeping you up to date about information about developmental disability services.
