Are there any upcoming General Assembly meetings families can attend?

Ann Rodriguez: Are there any upcoming General Assembly meetings families can attend? The short answer is absolutely. The North Carolina. General Assembly just came back to begin the 2023 long session. The term long session is related to the length of this session, beginning in January and probably ending sometime in the summer. It also signals the development of new budgets for the next two fiscal years and the long session is the time when legislators introduce new bills. There will be lots of committee meetings and they are all open to the public. You can attend in person or virtually. So go to the General Assembly website at N C L E G dot G O V and you will see a legislative calendar on the right side of the home page. The calendar includes a list of events that are occurring in the next week or so at the General Assembly. Many of them are committee meetings. The calendar tells you the date, the time, the event and the location of the event and the link to stream it virtually. The name of the committee on the calendar is also a link to that committee web page. You can get the handouts there and you can subscribe to receive certain meeting committee meeting notices by going to that committee web page and signing up. It's free. Great question. Thank you
