Dr. Mikel Hand: Hi, I'm Dr. Mikel Hand and I want to just talk to you just a little bit about what motivated me to enter into nursing education. I have been a nurse for now 33 years in September, and it's been an exciting 33 years because I've had lots of opportunities to do a variety of different things. But one thing that was certain was I knew early on that at some point in time I wanted to teach.
Dr. Mikel Hand: I have to say I love every minute of it. I enjoy the opportunity to see students grow, and to learn, and to spread their wings. And also the opportunity to smile when we have to let them go because they're finished.
Dr. Mikel Hand: I remain motivated every day after all of these years because I know that what I do makes a difference. Sometimes you don't necessarily hear that from students every day, but when you do it's extremely rewarding, extremely rewarding.
