Speakers: Janet Stevens , Professor and Clinical Educator

Janet Stevens : Good morning. My name is Janet Stevens, and I have the privilege of being an educator in labor and delivery antepartum and maternal fetal medicine at a community hospital. I also have the double joy of being a full time faculty member in a community college for nursing. What I love about being an educator is that I'm a lifelong learner, and I get to do that every day. I love learning from my colleagues, from my patients, and my students. I love being a servant leader,

Janet Stevens : The best advice I got as an educator came from one of my students, she said not only did I teach them content, but more importantly, I taught them how to be empathetic, how to be compassionate, how to be collegial, how to make a difference every day, and how to open your heart for the changes that being a nurse can have on your life. I think that's the most important lesson as an educator that we need to role model these behaviors. We need to help the younger generation of nurses understand the blessing that it is and the impact you can make.
