What does receiving Spirit of State mean to you?

Keimauri McKenzie: Receiving the Mississippi State Spirit of State Award truly means absolutely everything to me. Since stepping onto campus my freshman year, I was immediately welcomed in with open arms. And since then, I am just so thankful and so grateful and blessed to be able to give even a small factor of my contributions to this incredible university.

What has been your most rewarding experience at MSU?

Keimauri McKenzie: The most rewarding experience here at Mississippi State has been being able to get involved in so many different organizations that have grown near and dear to my heart. Well, as serving on the New Maroon Camp executive staff, as MSU Roadrunner, as a College of Business Ambassador, as well as serving in the Student Association cabinet. I've been able to grow friendships that have become like family and I'm so grateful for every single opportunity that Mississippi State has given me since I've been here.

In what ways can you continue to embody the Spirit of State?

Keimauri McKenzie: When I think of ways I can continue to embody the Spirit of State, I think of Mississippi State's newest tagline that states "Taking Care of What Matters." To me, "Taking Care of What Matters" looks like upholding every core value that Mississippi State stands for. I believe that it also means to bleed Maroon and White everywhere you go. And lastly, I believe it means serving and loving one another earnestly no matter what.
